Euro Cup
being a host city for the 2nd largest sporting event in the world (the 1st being the Wold Cup), means many things. public transportation is crowded, you can buy bratwurst on every street corner, and the hair salons offer flag face painting as a service. and one of the advantages (?) of being in a multi-cultural city is that all the countries are represented by ex-pats, so every match has thousands of fans in every neighborhood. and when a team wins, they rock the city all night with horns, singing and general tomfoolery.
Tonight Italy finally won a match, and while I'm inside with my swiss noise-proof windows closed, I can hear every word of the Italian national anthem on constant repeat. The swiss are way better behaved, when they won 2 nights ago, they were in bed by 10:30 so as not to wake the neighbors...
